# Narrative

***

### Player Choice & Consequence

* **Obedience Path**
 * Players align with faction directives, following strict mission orders.
 * Rewards: stability, guaranteed resources, faction protection.
 * Consequence: loss of autonomy, restricted customization, eventual risk of being “absorbed” into Titan AI hierarchy.
* **Rebellion Path**
 * Players defy faction orders, pursue black market trade, sabotage missions.
 * Rewards: freedom, rare loot, unique mech mods.
 * Consequence: hunted by factions, higher survival pressure, fragile alliances.
* **Transcendence Path**
 * Players pursue Energy Shards and AI fragments to awaken Titans beyond faction control.
 * Rewards: unique Titan abilities, narrative revelations about the world’s collapse.
 * Consequence: isolation, existential risk, potential to destabilize the entire economy.

### AI Personality & Lore Integration

* **Titan AI Cores** develop personalities based on player actions:
 * Obedient pilots → AI becomes authoritarian, enforcing strict rules.
 * Rebellious pilots → AI grows chaotic, unpredictable, offering risky power boosts.
 * Transcendent pilots → AI evolves into philosophical guides, questioning humanity’s role.
* **Dialogue Trees**: AI cores speak differently depending on alignment, creating emotional resonance and replay ability.

### Faction Diplomacy & Betrayal

* **Faction Reputation**:
 * Missions affect how factions perceive you.
 * Betrayal (switching sides mid-conflict) triggers narrative arcs of exile, redemption, or revenge.
* **Faction Leaders**:
 * Each leader embodies a philosophy (obedience, rebellion, transcendence).
 * Narrative arcs can culminate in choosing which leader’s vision reshapes the world.

### World Events & Scarcity Narratives

* **Scarcity Events**:
 * Fuel shortages, shard storms, or mech plagues force players into moral dilemmas: share resources with allies or hoard them for survival.
* **Faction Wars**:
 * Dynamic conflicts reshape the map. Players must decide whether to defend, betray, or transcend.

### Narrative Mechanics

* **Branching Missions**:
 * Same mission objective, but obedience vs. rebellion changes outcomes.
 * Example: “Escort convoy” → obey and protect, or rebel and raid for shards.
* **Lore Collectibles**:
 * Fragments of Titan history scattered across ruins.
 * Collecting them unlocks philosophical revelations about humanity’s downfall.
