# From the Ashes

**Recovered Prototype: GRIMM-02**

A forgotten prototype of General Grimm’s original Frame designated **GRIMM-02** was unearthed by Devoted scouts deep within a collapsed USMC vault. Unlike the standardized GRIM chassis, this early variant bore **dual manipulators** and was **adapted for melee combat**, wielding reinforced blades and hydraulic fists.

However, the design proved **tactically flawed**. Its bulk and limited servo articulation rendered it **too slow for frontline deployment**, and it was ultimately shelved in favor of ranged configurations.

Yet what the USMC deemed a weakness, the **Devoted would later sanctify as strength**. In their doctrine, slowness became **ritual**, and melee combat a **sacrament** a deliberate act of devotion. GRIMM-02’s rediscovery became a symbol of divine imperfection, and its design philosophy seeded the **Devoted’s melee Titan lineage**.\

Designated **Vigilant Ash**

But the Devoted saw not failure they saw **prophecy**.

They renamed it **Vigilant Ash**, sanctifying its flawed design as a symbol of divine patience and sacred imperfection. Its slowness became **ritual**, its melee orientation a **sacrament**. Where others sought speed, the Devoted embraced **intent**. Every strike from Vigilant Ash was a prayer. Every wound, a memory etched in steel.\
